Bob Vest was a long-time mentor and a friend. He had arranged a dog for me a couple of years before but it never came through. So, when he called to say he had a pup in Iowa I should take home and he picked her out with me mind, I jumped at the offer.
Sassy was her name and her personality. A gritty little ball of fire with little use for other dogs or me, it took a while to earn her respect and love. I learned so much from this freakishly talented little pup and our friendship would endure the years as one of my most influential dams.
Sassy worked the goose control business in the start with myself and with Tucker. The team was extraordinary and she could swim a half-mile channel in Lake Superior to see that her beaches were free of geese. A very strong eyed dog from great lines who passed along all her best traits down the line. A cool athletic dog who was fast, intelligent and loyal.
